Skool Games Review: How I Make $9,711/m with Alex Hormozi’s The Skool Games

Hi.

My name’s Andrew Kirby.

I’m a Skool addict.

I’ve been on Skool for over 3 years. I host two Skool groups (Synthesizer School, and Creator Monetization). And I’m actively involved in The Skool Games.

This post contains a comprehensive review of Alex Hormozi’s The Skool Games. To help you decide if it’s right for you.

It also has a complete post from Alex Hormozi detailing the 8 ways people are making money in The Skool Games. Including ways that work even if you don’t have an audience, and even if you’re not an expert.

Then finally an overview of my experience with The Skool Games, including how I’ve made hundreds of thousands of dollars from my communities, and make $9,711/month from an ‘unadvertised’ part of The Skool Games. I think you’ll like this section.

Thank you for attention. I hope you find value in these words.

Part 1 – What is The Skool Games?

The Skool Games is the best place to build an online business. It’s a business-building challenge hosted by Alex Hormozi. It’s designed to help beginners start making money online.

If you’d prefer to hear it from the horse’s (no offense, Alex) mouth:

I spent 4 years looking for the fastest, easiest, most-likely way for beginners to get to $10,000/month.

And finally, I found it. It’s Skool

– Alex Hormozi

The Skool Games Results

Here’s an overview of the results people are getting:

2 make $1,000,000/year

318 make $10,000/year

1. Thousands of people making hundreds of dollars per month

2. Hundreds of people making thousands of dollars per month

3. Dozens of people making tens of thousands of dollars per month

“Not being an expert or having an audience is no longer an excuse to not make money on the internet.”

– Alex Hormozi

The Skool Games Prizes

There are three prizes for playing The Skool Games.

3. Get Skool for FREE

The Skool Games Leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks the top 20 Skool groups by New Monthly-Recurring Revenue (New MRR).

What is New MRR?

New MRR is the monthly recurring revenue from new customers acquired during the month. Existing customer re-bills don’t contribute. The payments must be processed through Skool to qualify for the games

Every month theres a new chance to win. If you don’t win the first month, you’ll learn from the winners in the 1-day recordings where they share exactly what they did to win.

Here are the winners from the February Skool Games:

  1. Hamza Ahmed came first with over $88,000 new MRR with his self-improvement group Adonis School.

2. Evelyn Weiss came second with over $81,000 new MRR with her business group The $8 Digital Offer Builders.

3. And Cody Dunlap came third with over $50,000 new MRR with his sports-betting group Sports Content Creators.

And because the metric is New MRR, everyone starts from $0 at the start of the month. And previous winers are removed from the leaderboard, leaving it ready for the bold to claim. Anyone can win. You can win.

The Skool Games Course

The Skool Games includes a new course by Alex Hormozi.

The course is a complete guide to building a business on Skool. It is 7 videos long, and has a 8th video from Sam Ovens.

This is the outline of The Skool Games course:

  1. How to play – How to play The Skool Games + user manual.
  2. Make it fun – The most important rule: Make it fun!
  3. Designing your business – Learn everything you need to make a valuable group, even if you’re not an expert.
  4. Seeding your group – All good groups start small. All you need is “10 true regulars” and how to get them.
  5. Monetizing your group – Four ways you can make money from your group, and the math behind $10,000/month.
  6. Growing your group – Six ways to grow your group, and how to make a good about page (your skool funnel).
  7. Let the games begin! – Let’s get to work! The winners will share their lessons every month.
  8. How skool works – Tutorial video covering the basics + answering FAQ’s

The Skool Games Community

There is a Skool Games community with over 12,000 members. People share their wins, how they’re growing their group, and how they are monetizing.

“We’re basically crowdsourcing the best strategies and tactics to make money online doing what you love. We’re not telling you what to do, we want you to be creative and try new things.

We’re all playing the same game. Different people are good at different things, let’s see who can figure out each part of the equation and come together to form the ultimate way to play.

If we evolve the training and the tool (Skool) in a constant monthly improvement loop, this industry will innovate at a pace we’ve never seen before. I can’t wait!”

– Sam Ovens, Skool CEO

The Skool Games Winner Stories

Every month I interview the winners of the previous Skool Games winners. When you join The Skool Games you can watch these live on Zoom, and get your questions answered by the winners. People have said these recordings are worth the price alone. But I’m biased.

Part 2 – 8 ways people are making money in The Skool Games

Inside of The Skool Games, Alex Hormozi released a detailed post on 8 ways people are making money on Skool.

We wanted there to be fewer guard rails around how people use Skool. That way, more people would be creative on how they made money. And we haven’t been disappointed! Here’s a short list of the ones people are using:

1) “Swap to Save” Paid to Paid.

People coming over form Discord or Patreon communities and instantly recapturing 20% of their revenue + getting all the insane engagement Skool offers. Pretty simple. Put 20% of your topline from customers you bring the platform back into your pocket.

2) “Free only”.

Simply swapping from other social media groups to Skool often makes people more money because all your posts reach your customers, your competitors aren’t running ads to your groups, and the gamification Skool offers allows you more ways to encourage your community to engage. People are reviving formerly dead communities in a matter of days/weeks. You make your money from the customers buying other stuff from you like physical products, services, etc.

3) “Free THEN Paid”.

You start your group free. Seed it with awesome people. Heavily vet the first few members to make sure the ’10 true regulars’ embody what you want he group to be about. Then, once you have enough momentum, switch the group over to paid. All free people stay grandfathered (which is an awesome way to incentivize people to come early. aka – “i’ll be charging for this soon but you get lifetime free. get in now while you can.”)

4) “Free AND Paid”.

You start two communities. One free and one paid. Free group is for beginners. People try with low risk. Then, if they like what you have, they move up to the advanced (paid) group. TONS of people are doing this.

5) “Influencer Partners” into paid.

You partner with an influencer who doesn’t have a community. You manage it. They send the traffic. You negotiate a split. They get more money. You get more money without having to market. A great work split. As an aside – an AWESOME way to make life changing amounts of money if you can find the right influencer. You can also do this for more than one. Create a portfolio of communities.

6) “Outside Experts” into paid.

You start a community NOT being an expert, but just invite people who are into what you’re into. Then, you let the community come to life. Then you bring experts in who can bring value to that community. The expert gets distribution to their message. They get recorded content and edification. Your community gets value. You get credit for bringing everyone together.

7) “Zero to hero” into paid.

Without being an expert, you just document your own journey doing anything in depth. This gives you added motivation to stay consistent. People pay to watch you do it or join along with you. They can follow whatever you do, or, just get the voyeur experience. Both have value to different people. You can choose to spend a portion of the money on stuff that benefits the whole community. Or, on things like equipment that they get to enjoy vicariously through you.

8) “Curate” into paid.

Without being an expert, you assemble the best free resources on the internet around a specific topic. Your main benefit that you sell: TIME. Everything is available, already, for free on the internet. But – people don’t have the time to sift through it. So, you do the work of sifting through it and putting it all in one place. Think value per second of consumption. At the end of the day, thats all anyone cares about. And you still get the credit for making it happen without being an expert but leaning on those who are.

Not being an expert or having an audience is no longer an excuse to not make money on the internet.

Keep crushing, (and read the “PS”)

-Hormozi

PPS – if you’re using a different model, say so below.

We want to make the number of ways people win on Skool to be as diverse as the people using it.

Alex Hormozi and Skool’s partnership

Alex Hormozi invested in Skool in 2024.

This was Alex Hormozi’s announcement when he partnered with Skool:

“**BIG Announcement** I just made the largest investment of my life into Skool.com — a platform with millions of users that makes starting your own online business simple, easy, and fun.

I’ve been looking for an opportunity to make starting a business accessible to EVERYONE. And after four years…I finally found it. Skool is that opportunity.

To give you an idea, users are joining Skool communities so fast that host payouts are growing by 62%…PER. MONTH. (Not a typo).

If that sounds interesting…we’ve got something big coming. It involves business. Competition. Money. Prizes. And most importantly, you. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. You’re gonna love it. More Details to follow…stay tuned. “

– Alex Hormozi

The “big thing coming soon” that Alex Hormozi was referring to in his announcement post turned out to be The Skool Games.

You can also see Hormozi rocking the Skool fit on his latest Chris Williamson podcast:

Part 3 – My experience with The Skool Games

I host two communities

I’ve been on Skool for over 3 years.

I host two communities.

My first community is called Synthesizer School. I grew my YouTube channel to 600,000 by creating valuable content. This community teaches others to do the same.

My second community is called Creator Monetization. It’s exclusively for Creators with 100,000+ subscribers, to help them monetize their audience through Skool communities.

I love Skool.

And I love The Skool Games even more.

How I make $9,711/month with The Skool Games

There are two ways to make money with The Skool Games.

First, you can create, promote, and monetize your own Skool community. I’ve made hundreds of thousands of dollars from my Skool communities.

Second, you can promote The Skool Games. I am making around $10,000/month from promoting The Skool Games.

The Skool Games has a generous affiliate scheme. You get 40% of all revenue you generate, for life.

There are a few benefits to promoting The Skool Games over promoting your own Skool Group.

  1. You do not have to deal with community management, The Skool Games has its own community managers that you can benefit from
  2. You do not have to create your own courses, The Skool Games has a great course created by Hormozi
  3. You don’t have to figure out what your group should be about, Skool have done the hard work for you
  4. It has a highly converting funnel. Hormozi + Prizes + Leaderboards make it an easy sell
  5. Its passive income

Most people on Skool make money by monetizing their own group, but the Skool Games affiliate is also a great choice.

The ‘new model’ I used to make $1m profit + 600,000 Subscribers

This is a message for Consultants. Specifically someone who sells coaching or a course to help people solve their problems.

In 2022 I:

  • Spent two days in LA with Sam Ovens (on track to become billionaire)
  • Spoke with Alex Hormozi ($200m/year portfolio)
  • Spoke (and worked) with MrBeast (130m subscribers)
  • Spoke with Cole Gordon ($2,000,000/month)
  • Met Bas Slot in Lisbon twice ($1,000,000/month)

My conclusion after all of this was simple:

This industry is changing…

The smartest people have noticed, and are already taking advantage of this shift. Everyone else will be left behind.

Watch these clips (5-10 mins) to spot the shift.

Watch those clips before reading on. They’re short.

Here’s how I see things changing:

  • Direct Response → Brand
  • Ads → Content
  • Selling → Giving

And to me, this is a GREAT SHIFT. Thank goodness this industry is FINALLY maturing. It’s no longer enough to have flashy marketing and great sales skills.

You have to build a brand.

Over the past few months I’ve hinted at this shift quite a few times, and how I’ve used it to make $100,000/month profit (and sometimes even $90,000 in a day).

I recently drew up the “New Model” I used to make $1m Profit + 600,000 Subscribers. I think it’s the new META.

The key differences to the model most in here use:

  • No ads
  • No direct outreach
  • No sales tactics
  • No content treadmill
  • Focus on audience building
  • Focus on mastering YouTube
  • Focus on community
  • Building a village, not a city
  • Building long-term brand and goodwill
  • Using Skool as a marketing community, not product community

I ran the new model past Sam and he said he liked it! I also asked for permission to post this here and he said yes.

I think this new model is a game-changer for getting to $100k/m profit.

This video explains everything you need to know to capitalize on this shift to build a highly profitable business.

My YouTube strategy ($1m profit)

This model outlines:

  • How to scale to $100k/m profit using YouTube organic
  • Without dedicating your whole life to it
  • By generating goodwill at scale
  • And why I believe organic is better than ads

The core idea is to package a rare and valuable idea (a book) with a packaging that’s proven to go viral (a book cover).

The Free Group Funnel

I’ve generated hundreds of thousands of dollars on Skool through my “Free Group Funnel”. It was so effective that Skool asked me to create a course explaining how I did it.
